Recently, the newly formed Priestnall Advanced Choir travelled to Blackburn Cathedral to perform as part of Gabrieli Roar.
This was a unique opportunity to perform side-by-side with professional musicians from the Gabrieli consort led by Artistic Director Paul McCreesh.
Gabrieli Roar helps young singers to excel, develop their confidence in their own abilities and nurtures a love of choral music. The programme, ‘A Grand Georgian Christmas’, was a festive treat featuring the rich harmonies and spirited rhythms that once filled the village churches and parish halls of England in the Georgian period (c. 1740-1850). The singers were accompanied by a band which comprised of strings, flutes, clarinets, bassoons, horns, trumpets, drums, organ, harpsichord, ophicleide, and two very special serpents.
Trust Director of Music, Heather Brown said “Our students were inspired by performances from Gabrieli singers and the band. It was so exciting to be able to perform with them and hear the incredible sound they made together. It was a privilege to work with an organisation who shares our vision to enrich the lives of our students and to enable them to develop mature musical understanding and a lifelong appreciation of music. We are grateful to our hub GMBD for this opportunity to collaborate. I’d like to congratulate all the students involved in this performance”.
